The Vietnamese Prime Minister has agreed a plan to upgrade Vinh Airport in central province of Nghe An into an international airport to 2030 with a post-2030 orientations.
The Vinh Airport master plan was originally approved by the Ministry of Transport in 2006, which has since seen an adjustment in 2011.
With seven airplane bays and improved facilities, the airport is expected to handle 2.5 million passengers annually by 2025. The number will reach 7 million a year by 2030.
In 2014, the airport welcomed around 1.25 million passengers, registering an average growth of nearly 44 percent over the past 13 years, the highest growth rate in the nation.
