Cam Khe Phu Tho, one of the 11 mountainous district of Phu Tho Province is located the northwest Vietnam, about 3 hours drive from Hanoi. Cam Khe district covers an area of 234 square kilometres, offering off the beaten path hiking, trekking homestay, road cycling, mountain biking, motorbike, and motorcycle tours from Hanoi.
The district contains 1 township and 30 communes including Song Thao, Cat Tru, Cap Dan, Chuong Xa, Dieu Luong, Dong Cam, Dong Luong, Hien Da, Huong Lung, Ngo Xa, Phu Khe, Phu Lac, Phung Xa, Phuong Xa, Phuong Vi, Sai Nga, Son Nga, Son Tinh, Tam Son, Ta Xa, Thanh Nga, Thuy Lieu, Tien Luong, Tinh Cuong, Tung Khe, Tuy Loc, Van Ban, Van Khuc, Xuong Thinh, Yen Duong, and Yen Tap.
Vietnamese ethnic groups the Kinh, Muong, Dao and San Chay are the dominant ethnic groups which live in the area. The Dao build their houses in the traditional style, built either on stilts, level with the ground or half on stilts and the other half beaten with earth. Du village, located within the Xuan Son National Park is a tourist attraction.

The township has recorded average temperature of 23.5 °C (74.3 °F); the highest temperature and the lowest temperatures recorded have been 29 °C (84 °F) (July) and 15 °C (59 °F) (February), respectively. The average rainfall varies between 1,600 millimetres (63 in) and 1,800 millimetres (71 in). Humidity is high during the monsoon season from May to October with the annual average figure of 85%; in the dry season it goes below 80%. Precipitation is in the form of rainfall, most of it falling during the monsoon period. Most of the rain usually falls between April and September.
Getting to Cam Khe
The best way to get to Cam Khe from Hanoi is to rent a car with driver. You will be picked up in Hanoi and directly brought to Cam Khe Vietnam. Those who are on budget can take local public bus. There are few direct buses from My Dinh bus station to Cam Khe. Otherwise Hanoi Viet Tri bus takes about 4 hours on road. Upon your arrival in Viet Tri, you can either take Phu Tho local bus or motor-taxi to get to Cam Khe. Booking a guided tour (with a tour guide) is highly recommended. An English-speaking guide is really helpful in an such off the beaten path destination like Cam Khe Vietnam.
