Product Description

Song Xanh Sampan Cruise 2 Nights Itinerary is an inspirational package that we have designed in partnership with Victoria Cruises for travelers to experience the real life of Vietnamese people living along the Mekong River.

This 3 days 2 nights trip begins from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), offering the chance to experience the real life of local people in Cai Be, Sa Dec, and Can Tho. The cruise package ends in Can Tho, from there you can either return back to Ho Chi Minh city by road or fly to other destinations.

Itinerary

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Can Tho – Cai Von – Tra On – May Islet.

You will be picked up by our local team at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transferred by road to Can Tho. Arrival in Can Tho around noon, in time for lunch at the Spices Restaurant.

After lunch, welcome aboard the Song Xanh Sampan with chilled towels and a refreshing drink as the boat begins its leisurely cruise on the river. Head ashore at Cai Von Town and stroll through an outdoor market as vendors trade in farming tools, traditional medicine, and fresh vegetables.

The cruise continues on the narrow river of Tra On. Enjoy sightseeing countryside landscapes along the way: mangroves plantations, coconut trees, and stilt houses. At sundown, the boat passes some more green islets before it reaches the larger Hau River.

Enjoy dinner on board as the sampan moors on the river for the evening.

Day 2: May Islet – Cai Rang Floating Market – Sa Dec.

Today we set off early at about 6am to arrive at the famous Cai Rang Floating Market at its peak. Breakfast is served on board while the Song Xanh navigates among dozens of local barges laden with rice and other products from the Delta.

Continue upstream to Son Islet where a shore excursion awaits, visiting a local farm and vegetable gardens. Walk along the island for the local life experience. Afterwards, we return to the Song Xanh Sampan to have lunch while the boat makes its way to Phong Hoa. Visit a colorful temple dedicated to Caodaism, a uniquely Vietnamese religion.

Transfer to a rowing-boat for a leisurely ride along small canals lined with water coconuts, one of the many scenic waterways that crisscross the Mekong Delta. Then, we return to the sampan and cruise to the charming town of Sa Dec, visiting the historic house of a real-life character in the acclaimed novel and lm “The Lover” by Marguerite Duras.

After dinner on board, settle down for your second night on the river.

Day 3: Sa Dec – Cai Be.

We begin cruising in the early morning hours, just as the villages begin to stir and children get ready for school. After a leisurely breakfast on board, step ashore to visit local cottage industries that utilize products from the Mekong Delta region like rice and coconuts to make tasty snacks.

The cruise ends at Le Longanier Restaurant where lunch is served in an exquisite colonial-style villa. After lunch, you will be picked up again by our local team and brought back to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) or other destination.
