Remote North Vietnam Trekking Tour is a 3 days private, guided trekking tour we have just designed for active adventure travelers seeking an off-the-beaten path holiday in Vietnam. The 3 day hard trek starts from Lao Cai, takes you to the least visited destinations of Vietnam including Bat Xat, A Lu, Muong Hum, Y Ty, A Mu Sung, Den Sang, Ban Xeo…where you experience the rich ethnic culture.
DAY 1: LAO CAI -> BAT XAT -> Y TY
Arrive in Lao Cai railway station early this morning, you will be greeted by our local team and transferred to a local restaurant for breakfast. After breakfast, transfer to Bat Xat district. Bat Xat is called by language of Giay people. “Pac scrat” is called correctly and accurate sound with two different meanings. The first meaning is “ one hundred bamboo mats because “ Pac” means one hundred, “scrat” is bamboo mat; the second meaning is “waterfall mouth” or “ waterfall wharf, because “ Pac also has meaning of “Mouth”, “Srat” also expresses as “waterfall” or rolling wave. There is a sentence in Giay language which is “Ram Pan Srat” (bamboo mat rolling water”, then the meaning of Bat Xat following with first one or second one has not been determined)
Upon your arrival in A Mu Sung commune, make a stop at the border point 92 – is the first place that Red River come to Viet Nam from Yunan – China. Then you will visit Lung Po village, lying in the cross of rivers. Enjoy the beautiful landscape on the way such as few villages looming in cloud below the valley and the terraced field in Alu. Keep traveling to Y Ty Commune, having lunch at local family. In the afternoon, trekking through the H’mong apple forest to visit Lao Chai I village. You have the chance to discover the rich ethnic culture, local traditions, traditional architecture, houses of Ha Nhi ethnic minority people.

DAY 2: Y TY -> PHIN HO
After breakfast, you start the day activity trekking to Phin Ho highland. Make some stops on the way to take picture of the beautiful landscape, trees, flowers…. You will have experience of the dawn and dusk. Camping and spending one night in Phin Ho highland.
DAY 3: PHIN HO -> MUONG HUM -> LAO CAI
After breakfast, car picks you up and transfer to Muong Hum. If today was Sunday you could meet up with different ethnic groups who come to Muong Hum market. Muong Hum market is located under the small valley, behind pure stream, rounded by extremely high mountains. It’s a weekend market near the spring that is a meeting, communicating, trading and playing place of people in the ethnic groups Ha Nhi, Mong, Hoa, Giay, Red Dao, Dao Tuyen, Han…
Lunch is provided in a local restaurant en route.
After lunch, you travel back to Lao Cai. If time permit you spend the rest of the day visiting the Upper Temple before having dinner and taking the overnight train to get back to Hanoi. Trip ends.
