Putaleng Trekking Tour is a 4 day hard trek we has just launched for small group tours, active adventure hikers who seek an challenging, different, off the beaten path trip in Vietnam. Pu Ta Leng Peak, Phu Ta Leng, Putaleng was called as Pú Tả Lèng in the language of the Dao, an ethnic group living in Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province, in which “Pú” means “mountain”. Conquering Pu Ta Leng is not an easy task since the progress of climbing and going down usually takes from 3 to 4 days. In case if you want to combine camping with relaxing then it will take about 5 or 6 days.

Putaleng Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Lai Chau.

Option 1: Take the overnight bus at My Dinh bus station. Departure at about 21.00. Arrive Tam Duong the next day at about 7.00 AM.

Option 2: Picked up by the Lotussia team at your hotel in Hanoi (guide, car), and brought to Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province. The car journey takes about 7-8 hours on road. Overnight in Tam Duong at hotel.

Day 2: Lai Chau – Tam Duong – Ta Leng Village.

After breakfast, you will be brought by motor-taxi from either Tam Duong town (option 1) or your hotel in Tam Duong (option 2) to Ta Leng village is located about 5K from the town. Make a stop in Ta Leng village for the preparation of the expedition. Then start climbing to the first base camp, at 2422m. At the first stage of about 700-1000m, the hiking trail is not much challenging. There are few jagged pieces of the cliff, but several bushy trees on the way. Those old aged big trees roots sprawling on the ground are considered as one of the most significant obstacles that takes much time and effort of climbers. From the height of 1500m and above, colorful water-rail blooming spread Pu Ta Leng mountain, creating romantic and majestic scenes of mountains and forests. From there, you might see some other peaks such as Bach Moc Luong Tu peak and the Phu Xi Lung peak which also belong to the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range. The arrival at the first base camp at 2422m should be before dark. Have a rest while our local support team prepare the dinner.

Day 3: Ta Leng Village – Pu Ta Leng Mountain.

After breakfast, keep climbing up towards the Phu Ta Leng mountain peak. At the summit of the Pu Ta Leng mountain, at 3049m you may be proud of yourself for passing hundreds of challenges along the way to conquer the second highest mountain in Vietnam. Lunch is provided at noon. Then trekking back to the base camp (2422m) where you spend the second night.

Day 4: Putaleng Mount – Tam Duong – Hanoi.

After breakfast, you start the day activities hiking downhill from the base camp (2422m) back to the Ta Leng village. Trekking downhill is easier but requires as much attention as hiking uphill. The hike also takes a whole day before you reach the H’mong village back. Picked up again by motor-taxi and brought to Tam Duong town.

Option 1: Take the overnight bus to get back to Hanoi.

Option 2: Spend a night in a local hotel in Tam Duong. The following day, you can either go back to Hanoi or make a trip extension to Sapa, Mu Cang Chai, or Dien Bien Phu.
