Cycle North Vietnam 3 Day Itinerary is another 3 day mountain biking tour we have designed for active adventure travelers seeking an off-the-beaten path biking holiday in Vietnam. The guided bike tour starts from Lao Cai, takes you to the least traveled places A Mu Sung, Y ty, Den Sang, Muong Hum, Bat Xat, Ban Xeo, Ban Ho where you’ll find big rolling hills, great views and speedy open descents with good sight lines. You spend the third day biking in Sapa, to Ban Ho before traveling to Lao Cai, and taking the overnight train back to Hanoi. This is very hard off road mountain bike tour that requires some off-road riding skills, physical condition, and bike handling skills. The tour follows a mix of asphalt roads, broken roads, long climb cycling up hill.

Day-To-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Lao Cai – Bat Xat – Y Ty.

Arrive in Lao Cai train station early this morning, you will be greeted by our local team and brought to a local restaurant for breakfast, and a short rest. After breakfast, depart for Bat Xat, a northern district of Lao Cai Province. Besides the beauties of nature, scenery, Bat Xat also offers the rich ethnic culture. You make the first stop in Trinh Tuong where you disembark your bikes, and start biking to A Mu Sung commune. Make another stop for taking picture at the border point 92 – is the first place that Red River come to Viet Nam from Yunan – China. Then you will visit Lung Po village, lying in the cross of rivers. Enjoy the beautiful landscape of valley on the way. Having lunch in Lung Po. Keep moving to Y Ty Commune. Dinner and homestay in Y Ty.

Day 2: Y Ty – Muong Hum – Sapa.

After breakfast, enjoy a short bike ride to the nearby jungle. Then depart for Muong Hum. Arrive in Muong Hum around noon, in time for having lunch. If today was Sunday you could meet up with different ethnic groups who come to Muong Hum market. Muong Hum market is located under the small valley, behind pure stream, rounded by extremely high mountains. It’s a weekend market near the spring that is a meeting, communicating, trading and playing place of people in the ethnic groups Ha Nhi, Mong, Hoa, Giay, Red Dao, Dao Tuyen, Han…

Option

You can also do a short trek instead of the bike ride. The trek takes you to the Fairy’s Pond, located at about 3kms from Muong Hum centre.

You will be then transferred by car to Sapa. Stop en route for a visit of the Silver Waterfall – the source of the Muong Hoa spring, nearby Heaven Gate. You continues the trip, biking downhill for about 13kms to Sapa. Arrival in Sapa, check in hotel. Dinner and overnight in Sapa.

Day 3: Sapa – Lao Cai.

This is a day trip with mixture of dirt road, single track and a little portaging. There are some fantastic descents as well as walking and cycling from one village to another, sometimes the trails running through a local’s backyard. If you happen to be first rider into a village, the looks on their faces is priceless – but by the time the last rider has passed through, everyone has come out of their houses to welcome you. Car pick up you back to Lao Cai. Dinner at the restaurant near Railway station. Travel back to Hanoi by night train. End tour.
