8.45 – 9.00: Arrival at our garage, check the bikes and have some test rides. Our guide will give then some brief information about the bike ride.

9.00 – 9.15: You first bike to the Long Bien bridge, a historic cantilever bridge across the Red River that connects two parts of the city of Hanoi, Vietnam. It is also commonly referred to as the Paul Doumer Bridge.

Stop at the middle of the bridge and go downhill to the Red River island. There you have about one hour off-road bike ride along the island. Follow a small dirt trail, through corn fields and vegetable gardens until you cross the river and arrive by land.

You keep biking on the narrow back roads to see the traditional flower village Nhat Tan. Growing peach flowers is the main source of income for Nhat Tan villagers. They tend and shape the peach branches and trees to make the best ornamental trees for Tet. In addition to pink peach flowers, Nhat Tan village is busting with chrysanthemums, marigolds, dahlia, cosmos and many other annual flowers.

Go across the road to join the West Lake. With a shore length of 17 km, this is the largest lake of the capital and a popular place for recreation with many surrounding gardens, hotels and villas.

Keep pedaling along the shores for about one hour, arriving back in our bike garage around noon. Trip end.

We saw so much in 1 day and had a fantastic lunch with simple local food. Hanoi is beautiful and the trip was comprehensive and pleasant. The tour not only helped get our bearings of this beautiful city, but enhanced our knowledge, and gave us direction on local cuisine.
