The one day Da Lat Biking Tour probably offers the best sampling of single track downhill riding in the Dalat area. The total ride distance is about 25 kilometers and it is the easiest of our rides. Views are outstanding throughout with beautiful pine forested hills, Dankia Lake and picturesque small farms dotting the valleys you ride through.
The 1 day Da Lat Biking Tour starts with a 45 minute vehicle transfer from Dalat into the hills to the north west of the city. We drive up the western side of Dankia Lake and around the back side of Langbian Mountain to an elevation of about 1750 meters.
The vehicle drop off point is on a wider dirt road about 7 kilometers from the single track trail. This gives us a chance to warm up and get used to the bikes. The views to the west of jungle forested valleys are fantastic.
The first single track downhill section starts from an elevation of 1750 meters and rapidly drops down to 1425 meters over about 7 thrilling kilometers. The trail flattens out abruptly in a valley at the base of Langbian Mountain, and crosses over a clear mountain spring that feeds into Dankia Lake.
After crossing over the valley we ride on a short section of sealed road before breaking off onto more single track. This section of trail involves rolling hills and goes through beautiful farm land and ends with a gradual up hill climb to about 1490 meters.
We take a short break at this point to enjoy the scenery and restore the energy reserves with a fruit snack. After the break there are a couple of steep climbs up to 1570 meters before we take another plunge on single track and dirt roads through pine forest to the lake below. The elevation at the lake is 1375 meters, so this downhill section offers some great opportunities for the speed junkies out there as well.
At the lake side we have lunch and enjoy the views. Ambitious riders can ride back to Dalat on sealed road (12 kilometers and 45 minutes riding time). For mere mortals, a vehicle awaits to transport us back. Trip ends.
