Embark on a three-day, two-night relaxing cruise with Calypso Cruises in Vietnam’s tranquil Lan Ha Bay. Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Lan Ha Bay (L,D).

The tour begins at 8:00-8:30 am with a pick-up from your accommodation in Hanoi to Halong Bay (extra service). Upon arrival at Ha Long International Cruise Port in Bai Chay town, Ha Long city, between 12:15 to 13:00, a small boat will take you to Calypso Cruise. Upon arrival, guests will be served a warm welcome drink, have a short time to check-in, and receive a brief introduction and safety guidelines.

While cruising through the magnificent Ha Long Bay, lunch will be served, allowing guests to admire the fascinating nature before anchoring at Lan Ha Bay. At 15:00, a guide will take guests to explore the hidden parts of the bay, including the Dark and Bright Cave. Visitors can take a sampan with other tourists and a local rower or kayak on their own to see the Karst-formed lake resembling a dragon’s eye inside the mountain.

After returning to Calypso Cruises and changing into swimming suits, guests can swim in the sea or the swimming pool on the sundeck. Happy hour begins at 17:30 with various drinks at discounted prices, allowing guests to enjoy the swimming pool and the charming bay with the handsome bartenders. If it is a lucky day, the sunset can be seen from the sundeck.

At 18:00, guests can participate in a cooking demonstration and food decoration with the chef, followed by dinner at Calypso Cruise’s restaurant at 19:00. From 20:30 to 22:00, guests can relax on the sundeck after a day of activities, watch films in their rooms, sing karaoke in the restaurant, or go to the tender for squid fishing with the cruise staff.

The tour concludes with an overnight stay in Lan Ha Bay.

Day 2: Lan Ha Bay – Viet Hai Village – Lan Ha Bay (B,L,D).

Today, we will have the opportunity to explore the Lan Ha Bay more extensively with a small day-boat. We will cruise through the multiple islands and islets, hidden beaches, and visit the isolated Viet Hai village at the heart of Cat Ba National Park on bicycle.

We will wake up early at 6:30 am to enjoy the dawn and start a perfect new day with Tai Chi exercise on the sundeck. Afterward, we will have a light breakfast in the restaurant between 7:00 am to 7:45 am.

At 8:00 am, we will be picked up by a small day-boat and cruise through Lan Ha Bay before disembarking at Viet Hai dock. From there, we will go on a short cycling trip of 5km to Viet Hai village, a small village surrounded by the high mountain ranges of Cat Ba National Park. The area has become popular with foreign tourists but has not attracted mass tourism, so it remains very rustic. For those who are not fond of cycling, an electric car will be arranged.

We will return to the dock at 11:30 am and board our day-boat again to sail further to the other side of Lan Ha Bay. The day-boat will anchor for a peaceful lunch at noon.

After lunch, we will kayak around the Tai Quéo cave area, a tunnel cave, and visit a lake-like “Dragon Eye” between 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. We will then move on to Ba Trai Dao (Three Peaches) Beaches from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Here, we will have free time to swim in this beautiful and clean area. We will enjoy finger fruit dishes while cruising back to Calypso Cruises from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

We will return to Calypso Cruises between 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The rest of the evening can be spent enjoying the happy hours on the sundeck or relaxing in our cabins. Dinner will be served in the restaurant at 7:00 pm, and we can enjoy the onboard activities.

We will spend the night in Lan Ha Bay.

Day 3: Lan Ha Bay – Halong Bay – Hanoi (B,L).

Start your day off right by welcoming the sunrise on the Gulf of Tonkin at 06:30 while refreshing your body and soul with a Tai-chi lesson on the sundeck of Calypso Cruises. From 07:00 to 07:45, head to the restaurant to indulge in a delicious breakfast. At 08:00, hop on a bus for about 20 minutes from Gia Luan Pier to Trung Trang Grotto on Cat Ba Island. The grotto is a unique place that has preserved the importance of Karst for millions of years. On the journey, you can immerse yourself in the beautiful and natural scenery of Cat Ba National Park.

Between 09:30 and 10:00, return to Calypso Cruises for a shower before checking out of your room. Savor an early lunch between 10:00 and 11:30, then pay your bills. At 11:30, a small boat will take everyone to Tuan Chau Wharf, where the Calypso Cruises journey ends between 12:00 and 12:30. Transfer back to Ha Noi City (extra service), you can expect to arrive at your hotel around 4.30 pm.

Notes

Cruise itinerary and schedule are subject to change due to weather, tide levels and operating conditions. Swimming or kayaking excursions may be cancelled due to poor weather.

Meals on board are fusion. Vietnamese, seafood and international. Guest should advise of any special food reference, allergies or dietary requirement at least 1 week prior to the cruise date.

For environmental protection purposes, the use and carrying of plastic bags, single-use plastic bottles, and any other disposable plastics is prohibited in Ha Long Bay.

Tour guide

Our tour guides speak English or French. They hold a university degree in tourism and national license as a guide. If you wish to send a tour leader along with any group, he or she can fully rely on the knowledge and experience of our local guides.

Remote treks are always accompanied by a local representative to deal with permits and authorities and manage the porter team. They speak the local dialects, know the cultural traditions and give tips on suggested behavior in fragile ecological areas and tribal communities. For some itineraries, the role of tour leader and representative is combined.

Driver

Our drivers don’t speak English. It’s possible that a few of them might know some basic words, such as telling time, stop, and lunch. If you’re looking for effective communication throughout the journey, we highly recommend booking a tour guide.

Trip routes

Principally, Lotussia Travel requires all the trip associates to know the destinations well by any means of traveling or enquiry to the local suppliers to figure out all the relative details of any trip. For adventure tours such as jungle trekking, mountain hiking, sea kayaking, river rafting or biking, cycling tours, Lotussia Travel will never add any new routes into available schedule until survey or pre-view it.

Accommodation

Lotussia Travel carefully choose all the hotels, guest-houses or home-stays based on service quality, location, and characteristics, doing best to make the accommodations in the remote small places as comfortable as possible. Please bear in mind that hotels in Vietnam might not be in the same standard in other country. Generally hotels in major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Hoian, Hue…are much better than hotels and guest-houses in mountainous areas.

Meals

Lotussia Travel take dinning as an indispensable experience to clients since it is an important part in Vietnamese culture. Therefore, Lotussia Travel will not intend take clients to the most expensive restaurants but non-touristy local ones which offer delicious, local food, with nice or interesting atmosphere. The restaurants might be simple in the country but LOTUSSIA Travel guarantee is sanitary and cleanliness. Or even on our trek, we encourage our cook offer client food with new tastes from day to day. During adventure itineraries to mountainous or remote areas, there is sometimes no choice for hotel and restaurants. We will try our best to bring you the best taste of local food.

Drinks

As the tap water in Vietnam is undrinkable, Lotussia Travel recommend clients to drink bottled water throughout your trip, or boiled water on treks. Lotussia Travel offers bottle water all the day, and soft drinks like Cola, Sprite or Vietnamese Tea or if possible juice in restaurants (if mentionned in itinerary). This is not automatically included in the packages. In simple restaurant or on camping, Lotussia Travel offers boiled water, instant coffee or juice, wrapped milk (Details are confirmed in bottom of your itinerary).

Transportation

In most destinations of Vietnam, all the roads are well paved though the traffic is quite messed up like in Hanoi, Hai Phong… We use proper vehicles, car, minibus or coach in good condition based on the size of the groups. We use 4WD only on the rough road where the other vehicles could not pass through or based on clients requirement on overland journeys or treks. For cycling itineraries, we usually use our support minibus or minibus with support truck. For sea kayaking, river rafting trips, diving packages we use standard boat as support. Detailed information is provided on our service proposal.

We use drivers who are native or local of each travel destination and maintain good safety records for all trips. Most of our drivers can speak English but a little bit. This is just enough to understand basic words such as “time of departure”, “stop”, “restaurants”, “hotels”…If you want to learn more about Vietnamese culture and information about sightseeing sites, booking a tour guide is highly recommended.
