Trip Description & Day-by-day Itinerary
The 8 days motorbiking Vietnam tour starts from Hanoi, and takes you to northeast Vietnam we you visit Cao Bang, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Yen Bai.
DAY 1: HANOI -> LANG SON
We saddle up and make the break out of the city limits and the lowlands and plains of the Red River Delta. We pass through clusters of limestone as we head out north-east. Arrive in Lang Son in the early afternoon, make a visit to Dong Kinh Market – “the paradise of Chinese copy electronic products” and Tam Thanh Temple. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 2: LANG SON -> CAO BANG
We strike directly north, skirting the border city of Lang Son then we join the legendary ‘Highway 4’ where the Viet Minh forces carried out numerous raids over uncountable passes in this remote border region. We follow the border all the way to Vietnam’s major city in the north-east: Cao Bang (literal translation: ‘High Plateau’). Overnight in Cao Bang.
DAY 3: CAO BANG -> BAN GIOC WATERFALL -> QUANG UYEN
Get out of town, we ride up to Ma Phuc Pass of Cao Bang Province. It is on the way between Cao Bang Town and the Ban Gioc Waterfall. The pass is not famous with the elevation or the danger like some others in Vietnam, but with the natural beauty that one could capture from the top of the pass. Keep riding to Ban Gioc waterfall, one of Vietnam’s best-known waterfalls. It’s a very scenic spot, marking the border with China, but sees very few visitors. Lunch in local restaurant before we get an other way back to Quang Uyen. This is the territory of Nung An people. Home stay in a host family and the hostess is aBan Gioc waterfall great cook. Overnight in Quang Uyen.
DAY 4: QUANG UYEN -> BAO LAC
we arrive early in Bao Lac. Then we prepare for a special finish: 9km on a good track just like we like: climbing all the way to the top. On arrival at our Lo Lo friends’ place we will be met with a warm welcome from all the village. This is certainly the poorest of the villages we visit.
DAY 5: BAO LAC -> MEO VAC -> DONG VAN
Today, we will have relaxing, easy and very enjoyable motorbike tour to Dong Van . Start the day at about 9 Am, ride slowly along the Gam river to enjoy the green mountains and mountains. We will be in Meo Vac for lunch. After lunch, it could be the best motorbike tour in Vietnam to ride cross Ma-Pi-Leng pass ( It’s one of the longest and most beautiful passes in North Vietnam. We can have hundreds of stops for picture of The Dong Van Rock Plateau Global Geo-park, and the local ethnic minorities. Stay overnight in Dong Van town.
DAY 6: DONG VAN -> HA GIANG
A leisurely ride from Meo Vac to Yen Minh & Quan Ba. Taking a leisurely pace to take it all in. We will visit the infamous Vuong Palace of a H’mong family of high rank during French colonial rule. This palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to its mixed style of European and Chinese architecture. We then hit the road to Quan Ba and downhill to Ha Giang for the night.
DAY 7: HA GIANG -> THAC BA LAKE
Thac Ba Lake is one of the largest and most beautiful artificial lakes of Vietnam. The lake was created as part of the hydroelectric plant project in Yen Bai in the 1960s. It boasts clear water surrounded by mountains and tropical forests. There are 30 different ethnic groups living in surrounding regions of Thac Ba Lake. Among them, Tay, Nung, Thai, Muong, Dzao and Kho Mu ethnic people still proudly keep their primitive traditions and customs. For the first half, we will motorcycle on the wide and smooth high way No 2. for the second half, we will have a good discovery of Vietnam countryside by motorbike. The ride after lunch is mostly through the rice paddies and small villages. We will be in Vu Linh at about 3 PM. Spend the rest time of the day to discover Thac Ba lake by a small local fishing boat.
Overnight in Vu Linh – Home stay.
DAY 8: THAC BA LAKE -> HANOI
We will ride longer to get to road No2B in which there is less traffics on. Then hit the road down to Red River Delta. The roads are the mixture of both challenging track and different interest all the way back to Hanoi.
