Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Halong Bay.

Between 8:00 and 8:30 AM: Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and we’ll set off for the stunning Halong Bay.

At 12:00 PM: Warm greetings await you from the Athena Team at Halong International Harbour as your journey begins. You’ll complete luggage check-in at the waiting lounge before stepping aboard the cruise. Hop on the Athena Cruise via a tender boat, where the Cruise Manager and the crew will be excited to welcome you. As you sip on a welcome drink, the Cruise Manager will provide essential safety instructions and walk you through the itinerary for the upcoming adventure.

By 12:45 PM: Get ready to indulge in a delightful lunch served at our cozy restaurant. With the cruise gracefully sailing towards the enchanting Halong Bay, you can relish both your meal and the breathtaking views, which include the iconic limestone formations dotting the surroundings.

Around 2:45 PM: The cruise will make a captivating stop at “Bo Nau” cave, often referred to as the Pelican Cave, a significant part of Halong Bay’s natural heritage. Via a tender boat, you’ll be transported to explore the renowned “Sung Sot” Cave, which stands as the largest and most awe-inspiring cave in the region.

Around 3:45 PM: Following your exploration of the Surprising Cave, we’ll continue the adventure by tender boat, heading towards the charming Titov Island, named in honor of the famed Soviet astronaut, Gherman Stepanovich Titov. Here, you’ll have a choice to either take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters, relax on the pristine beach, or opt for a climb to the island’s summit, treating yourself to an extraordinary panoramic view of Halong Bay.

After a series of engaging activities, it’s time to head back to the comfort of the Athena Cruise. Use this time to unwind and relax as the cruise takes you to its overnight anchoring spot at (Titop587). Around 6:30 PM: Get ready for an enjoyable Cooking Demonstration led by our talented Athena Head Chef. This interactive session will showcase traditional Vietnamese dishes, giving you a delightful glimpse into the local culinary culture.

At 7:00 PM: Settle down for a mouthwatering fusion set menu, thoughtfully crafted to satisfy your appetite after an active day filled with exciting experiences.

By 8:30 PM: The evening is yours to relish in various onboard activities. You can unwind with film entertainment or engage in mini-games in the dining room, try your hand at squid fishing, or even treat yourself to a soothing massage. Throughout the evening, the Cruise Manager will be at your service to ensure your experience is nothing short of unforgettable.

Day 2: Halong Bay – Hanoi.

Start your day off right with a revitalizing Tai-Chi Exercise session on the sundeck, while the Athena Cruise gracefully glides towards the enchanting “Luon” Cave. Indulge in a light and satisfying breakfast prepared at the restaurant, ensuring you’re fueled up for the day’s adventures.

Embark on a fascinating visit to the mesmerizing “Luon” Cave, renowned for its stunning endemic vegetation that flourishes within the captivating landscapes of Halong Bay. You have two enticing options to explore this natural wonder: take a complimentary kayaking excursion or opt for a traditional woven bamboo boat ride, accompanied by a skilled local boatman.

By 9:00 AM: Return to the Athena Cruise, take some time to relax, and prepare for check-out. Kindly leave your luggage outside your cabin door, and rest assured that the attentive Athena team will collect and arrange them for you on the pier.

Around 9:30 AM: Delight in a delectable brunch buffet at the restaurant, savoring a variety of culinary delights while the cruise gracefully sails back towards the port. Bid farewell to the Athena Cruise as you transfer back to Halong International Harbour via tender boat. Our driver will pick you up again and bring you back to Hanoi, marking the end of your memorable journey.

Notes

Cruise itinerary and schedule are subject to change due to weather, tide levels and operating conditions. Swimming or kayaking excursions may be cancelled due to poor weather.

Meals on board are fusion. Vietnamese, seafood and international. Guest should advise of any special food reference, allergies or dietary requirement at least 1 week prior to the cruise date.

Tour guide

Our tour guides speak English or French. They hold a university degree in tourism and national license as a guide. If you wish to send a tour leader along with any group, he or she can fully rely on the knowledge and experience of our local guides.

Remote treks are always accompanied by a local representative to deal with permits and authorities and manage the porter team. They speak the local dialects, know the cultural traditions and give tips on suggested behavior in fragile ecological areas and tribal communities. For some itineraries, the role of tour leader and representative is combined.

Driver

Our drivers don’t speak English. It’s possible that a few of them might know some basic words, such as telling time, stop, and lunch. If you’re looking for effective communication throughout the journey, we highly recommend booking a tour guide.

Trip routes

Principally, Lotussia Travel requires all the trip associates to know the destinations well by any means of traveling or enquiry to the local suppliers to figure out all the relative details of any trip. For adventure tours such as jungle trekking, mountain hiking, sea kayaking, river rafting or biking, cycling tours, Lotussia Travel will never add any new routes into available schedule until survey or pre-view it.

Accommodation

Lotussia Travel carefully choose all the hotels, guest-houses or home-stays based on service quality, location, and characteristics, doing best to make the accommodations in the remote small places as comfortable as possible. Please bear in mind that hotels in Vietnam might not be in the same standard in other country. Generally hotels in major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Hoian, Hue…are much better than hotels and guest-houses in mountainous areas.

Meals

Lotussia Travel take dinning as an indispensable experience to clients since it is an important part in Vietnamese culture. Therefore, Lotussia Travel will not intend take clients to the most expensive restaurants but non-touristy local ones which offer delicious, local food, with nice or interesting atmosphere. The restaurants might be simple in the country but LOTUSSIA Travel guarantee is sanitary and cleanliness. Or even on our trek, we encourage our cook offer client food with new tastes from day to day. During adventure itineraries to mountainous or remote areas, there is sometimes no choice for hotel and restaurants. We will try our best to bring you the best taste of local food.

Drinks

As the tap water in Vietnam is undrinkable, Lotussia Travel recommend clients to drink bottled water throughout your trip, or boiled water on treks. Lotussia Travel offers bottle water all the day, and soft drinks like Cola, Sprite or Vietnamese Tea or if possible juice in restaurants (if mentionned in itinerary). This is not automatically included in the packages. In simple restaurant or on camping, Lotussia Travel offers boiled water, instant coffee or juice, wrapped milk (Details are confirmed in bottom of your itinerary).

Transportation

In most destinations of Vietnam, all the roads are well paved though the traffic is quite messed up like in Hanoi, Hai Phong… We use proper vehicles, car, minibus or coach in good condition based on the size of the groups. We use 4WD only on the rough road where the other vehicles could not pass through or based on clients requirement on overland journeys or treks. For cycling itineraries, we usually use our support minibus or minibus with support truck. For sea kayaking, river rafting trips, diving packages we use standard boat as support. Detailed information is provided on our service proposal.

We use drivers who are native or local of each travel destination and maintain good safety records for all trips. Most of our drivers can speak English but a little bit. This is just enough to understand basic words such as “time of departure”, “stop”, “restaurants”, “hotels”…If you want to learn more about Vietnamese culture and information about sightseeing sites, booking a tour guide is highly recommended.
