The day trip biking Hanoi to Tam Coc takes you to the countryside of the Red River Delta in northern Vietnam where you enjoy cycling on paved back roads, through rice fields and countryside villages. You mostly cycle on the back roads where the traffic is not busy. There are about 1.5 hour bike ride on flat roads from the Dinh Le temples, Hoa Lu to Tam Coc, “Halong bay inland”.
8.00 AM: You will be met up with Lotussia Travel guide, driver at your hotel in Hanoi. Head south for the three-hour drive along Highway One.
Upon your arrival in Hoa Lu around 10:00, visit the Dinh and Le sanctuaries. These are the two remaining temples of the ancient citadel of Hoa Lu. The first is dedicated to Dinh Tien Hoang (also known as Dinh Bo Linh), an Emperor from the Dinh Dynasty. The second commemorates the rulers of the Le Dynasty.
After visiting these two temples, you follow a paved road cycling through rice fields and peaceful countryside villages to Tam Coc.
An optional stop can be made on the way, in Hang Mua where you may enjoy a short climb to the summit of the Hang Mua mountain. Once, at the top of the mountain, you have a beautiful view over Tam Coc and the surroundings. The climbing trip takes up to one hour.
Keep cycling until you arrive Tam Coc, in time for lunch. The lunch is provided in a local restaurant in town (Vietnamese food).
After lunch, take a two-hour boat trip along the Thung Nang River. This area is similar to Tam Coc, but less touristy.
After the boat trip, you will be picked up again by your car and transferred back to Hanoi. Trip ends.
