Thuong Temple Festival – Lao Cai

The Thuong Temple Festival is a celebration of Tran Quoc Tuan, who was the Supreme Commander of Vietnam during the Tran Dynasty. The festival is held on the 15th day of the first lunar month in Lao Cai province. Tran Quoc Tuan was a brilliant military leader who defeated the Mongol invaders three times in the 13th century. He is revered as a national hero and a symbol of patriotism and loyalty.

The festival features a series of cultural and sports activities, as well as a display of agricultural products and handicrafts from 17 communes and wards in Lao Cai. The festival attracts many visitors who want to learn about the history and culture of the region. Some visitors also have a chance to enjoy the traditional dishes of ethnic minority groups in Lao Cai, such as Bac Ha wine, dried pork, and seven-coloured steamed glutinous rice.
