Bac Ha Horse Race festival usually take place in early June in Bac Ha town, Lao Cai province, in the northern Vietanm. The Horse Race festival is one of the most interesting event which has existed for nearly 100 years. In the race, all the riders are farmers from different ethnic groups on Bac Ha plateau as well as its neighbor districts and the racehorses are their pack-horses.

This year, the race is open on June 8th and it will attract more than 80 jockeys from 10 communes in Bac Ha district as well as its neighbor districts. Jockeys are basically farmers and the racehorses are those who carry merchandises for their living. Though the horse race is not professional but still make an unparalleled signature culture of the Northwest people .
