Ba Vang Pagoda is located in Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province, about 120km from the center of Hanoi. It is also known as Bao Quang Pagoda, and it preserves the unique values of Vietnamese Buddhist Sect – Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen.
Ba Vang Pagoda is the only place in Quang Ninh Province that organizes the Chrysanthemum Festival on the 9th day of the ninth lunar month to honor the chrysanthemum – the symbol of Buddhist culture associated with Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen.
The festival includes many activities such as a water procession from the old well to the sanctum, an offering ceremony, a chrysanthemum arranging contest, chrysanthemum tea tasting, zen poetry recitation, calligraphy demonstration, tuong (Vietnamese classic opera) and cheo (Vietnamese popular theatre) performances, etc.
