Yen Phong Bac Ninh is a rural district of Bac Ninh province. Yen Phong district covers an area of 95 km². This is not an ideal place for mountain biking and challenging bicycle rides. But the area offers beautiful day trips from Hanoi, easy, fun family bike tours, road cycling holidays which might be great for those who like discovering Vietnam countryside and rural villages.

Yen Phong district consists of 1 township and 13 communes including Cho, Dung Liet, Dong Phong, Dong Tho, Dong Tien, Hoa Tien, Long Chau, Tam Da, Tam Giang, Thuy Hoa, Trung Nghia, Van Mon, Yen Phu, and Yen Trung.

Getting there

The best way to get to Yen Phong from Hanoi is to rent a car with driver. The car journey takes about 1 hour. There are also different day buses and trains leaving from Hanoi to Bac Ninh city. If you take the bus from Hanoi to Bac Ninh city, you will need then to hire a car or take a taxi, motor-taxi to get brought to Yen Phong.

When to go

Yen Phong district features a warm humid subtropical climate with plentiful precipitation. The annual average temperature is 24 °C in Yen Phong region. The highest is 30 °C in July; the lowest is 15 °C in January. The district experiences the typical climate of northern Vietnam, where summers are hot and humid, and winters are, by national standards, relatively cold and dry. Summers, lasting from May to September, are hot and humid, receiving the majority of the annual 1,680 millimetres (66.1 in) of rainfall. The winters, lasting from November to March, are relatively mild, dry (in the first half) or humid (in the second half), while spring (April) can bring light rains. Autumn (October) is the best time of the year in terms of weather. The average annual sunshine is 1,530-1,776 hours, relative humidity is 79%.

What to do

Hiking

Yen Phong district is topographically flat and characterized by paddy fields and rural hamlets. There are neither mountains nor forests. The area is not an ideal place for challenging mountain climbs, mountain biking, jungle trekking.

Cycling

Cycling is the best way to explore Yen Phong rural villages. Ride the quiet trails through rice fields and small villages. Make stops to learn about daily village life in Bac Ninh and to enjoy some delicious local snacks. Connect with the real Vietnam. You don’t have to be a regular rider to enjoy it.
