Tien Giang is located in the north of Mekong Delta, named after the first arm of Mekong River in Vietnam. It is bordered by Long An to the north, Dong Thap to the west, Ben Tre to the south and Southeast Asia Sea to the east. The capital of Tien Giang is My Tho (meaning “the good perfumed herb”), 70km from Vinh Long, 70km from Ho Chi Minh City is a well-preferred retreat centre for Ho Chi Minh City residents.

Tien and Vam Co Tay rivers with Soi Rap, Tieu, Dai river mouths make good condition to develop aquaculture. The terrain is divided into distinct three regions: fruit gardens along the bank of Tien River, plain and seaside.

Major attraction of Tien Giang is the Cai Be Floating Market, among the three biggest ones in the region. Every early morning, boats and rafts loaded with freshly picked vegetables, fruit, flowers and other produce from nearby districts of Tien Giang, Soc Trang and Ben Tre gather here for trade until dusk. The noise stirs the atmosphere of around 1km water area along Tien River. Each boat sells one type of good, indicated by a long vertical pole with sample product attached at the end. Household stuffs, production tools and food are also on offer. From a certain distance, the market looks like a colorful painting, a unique mosaic of local life.

Another highlight is the Dong Tam Snake Farm is around 10km from My Tho City. This is the most renowned snake breeding farm and snake bite treatment centre in Vietnam. It is home to more than 400 species of snakes, including both poisonous and non-poisonous types, as well as other rare animals.
