Tham Pua Cave – Dien Bien

Tham Pua cave, also called Tham Bang cave is located in Bung Lao commune, Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province, northwest Vietnam. The cave is about 100m high. Local people discovered in the grotto a kind of axe, pestle to pound the food and some fossil bones of animals.

There are lots of stalactites in the animal shapes such as dragon, phoenix, lion, elephant, or the gorgeous orchards. There is a large block of marble in the middle of the cave. The marble is flat like a table. This was also the first head quarter of the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Going deeper in the cave, there are many alleys create mysterious ways.

It is said that this relic was discovered in 1985. Being the narrow roof of stone of 4m wide, the floor of the cave is uneven and wet. At first, the research group collected about 19 tools of the stone, three undefined tools and other animal bones and wrinkle cover. According to scientists, Tham Pua relic belongs to the cultural era of Hoa Binh.
