Moc Chau Son La
Moc Chau Son La offers some of best Vietnam off the beaten track holidays and soft adventure journeys in Vietnam. Moc Chau is a mountainous district of Son La province in the northwest Vietnam. The district covers an area of 1081 square kilometres. Moc Chau is a steppe with green tea hills, the widest and the most beautiful grass fields in the North’s mountainous areas.
Moc Chau district contains 2 townships and 13 communes including Moc Chau, Chieng Hac, Chieng Khua, Chieng Son, Dong Sang, Hua Pang, Long Sap, Muong Sang, Na Muong, Phieng Luong, Quy Huong, Tan Hop, Tan Lap, and Ta Lai.
Getting to Moc Chau
The best way to get to Moc Chau district is to take the short internal flight from Hanoi to Na San airport, Son La province. From there, you can either hire a car or take a motor-taxi to be brought to Moc Chau.
If you travel in a small group, hiring a car from Hanoi may be a better choice. The car journey takes about 4 hours on road. It offers you the chance to discover the northwest region of Vietnam.
There are public buses from Hanoi to Moc Chau Son La. Both day buses and night buses are available at My Dinh bus station. Buses are usually full at weekend.
When to go
Moc Chau has a temperate climate. It is cool in summer with average temperature of 20oC, a bit cold in autumn, freezing in winter and warm in spring. Coming here in winter or spring – the most beautiful season in Moc Chau, tourists will have chances to contemplate the breathtaking scenery of blooming flowers.
In winter, there is full of fogs covering over the colorful orange wild sunflowers combining with the red poinsettia flowers blooming along roadsides. When spring comes, the whole Moc Chau is bright with colorful blooming white pumpkin and apricot flowers. Warm sunlight is spreading across the steppe, and then sometimes gives way for light cold drizzles.

Son Moc Huong Cave
Son Moc Huong Cave (or Bat Cave because there are many bat nests in its arch) is about 300m northwest of Moc Chau Town. As a typical karst limestone cave at a height of approximately 100m above sea level, the cave has an area of about 6,915m², with a length of 80m, a height of 20m and a width of 25m.
Dai Yen Waterfall
Dai Yem Waterfall also called Nang (Girl) Waterfall is about 3km from Moc Chau farm. Vat Village of Thai people with the oldest history in Moc Chau, is about almost 1km from Pink Blouse Waterfall.
Ang Village
Ang Village where Thai people inhabit is about more than 2km north of Moc Chau Town. There are two lakes nearby a pine forest stretching in a red brown feralit hill.
