Cao Loc Lang Son
Cao Loc Lang Son, one of the 11 mountainous districts of Lang Son Province is located in the Northeast region of Vietnam, about 3 hour drive from Hanoi. Cao Loc district covers an area of 644 km², offering a range of off the beaten track holidays in Vietnam. The district is divided into 1 township and 19 communes including Cao Loc, Dong Dang, Tan Thanh, Xuan Long, Yen Trach, Tan Lien, Gia Cat, Cong Son, Mau Son, Xuat Le, Cao Lau, Hai Yen, Loc Yen, Thanh Loa, Hoa Cu, Hop Thanh, Thach Dan, Bao Lam, Thuy Hung, Song Giap, Phu Xa, Binh Trung, and Hong Phong.
Cao Loc is best known for the Mau Son mountain complex. There are more than 80 large and small mountains, of which the highest is Nui Cha Mountain which is 1,541 meters high and Me Mountain 1,520m. Mau Son has a temperate climate and the average temperature is 15 degrees Celsius so it is really cool in summer and very cold in winter. The area is endowed with a biodiversity system with more than 1,500 hectares of primeval forest which is home to many rare flora and fauna species. There are many streams from the peak to the foot of the mountain, creating magnificent and splendid waterfalls.
The ethnic groups which inhabit the area are the Viet (Kinh), Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong and San Chay, Ngai who retained their tribal life styles. Nungs comprised 42.97% of the population, followed by Tay people with 35.92%. Ethnic Vietnamese are 16.5%, and the remainder are mostly Dao, Hoa, Sán Chay and Hmong.

Cao Loc Vietnam weather has an average annual temperature of 17–22 °C and an average annual rainfall of 1,200–1,600 millimetres (47–63 in). The average temperature in the summer is 28.5 °C (83.3 °F) and 12–13 °C (54–55 °F) in the winter, It has an average humidity of 80–85% and an average of 1600 hours of sunlight a year.
Getting to Cao Loc
The best way to get to Cao Loc from Hanoi is to rent a car with driver. You will be picked up at your place in Hanoi and brought to Cao Loc. Those who are on budget can take a public bus from Hanoi to Lang Son city. Once in Lang Son city, either take a Lang Son local bus or a motor-taxi to get to Cao Loc. Hanoi Lang Son city bus journey takes about 4 hours on road. There are also local buses from neighboring provinces to Lang Son. There might be direct buses from Hanoi to Cao Loc.
Booking a guided tour (with a tour guide) is highly recommended, especially when you travel to an off the beaten path destination like Cao Loc Vietnam.
