Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon has been the capital city of Myanmar only since 1885 although some settlements in this site date back about 2,500 years. This colorful metropolis features an intriguing mix of the scenes from a bygone era and the modern tempo of bustling streets punctuated by serene temples and impressive colonial edifices.
A full day city tour takes us in the National Museum, Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda with a 70m long reclining Buddha, Sule Pagoda, Mahabandoola Park, India town and bustling Chinatown. We also explore the Bogyoke Market (formerly Scott’s) where everything and anything is for sales, before continuing to the world famous golden Shwedagon Pagoda. This masterpiece houses an intricate complex of smaller pagodas and Buddha images.
